One day of a child’s life.

In 2012, the OMK-Uchastie Charity Fund held a photo contest which was attended by 162 photographers from Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Spain, and Great Britain.

The major objective of the photo contest was to draw public attention to the problems of childhood and charity made available to children.

The central figures of the photos were different children: younger and older ones, cheerful and sad, those living with a family or those at an orphanage…

The judges of the contest include:

  • Pavel Astakhov – Children’s Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation;
  • Valery Plotnikov – a famous Soviet and Russian photographer, author of photo albums about prominent figures of Russia in the 20th century;
  • Yana Poplavskaya – an actress, TV anchor and radio presenter, member of the Russian Television Academy;
  • Yury Rost – a Russian photographer, reporter, writer, staff writer of Novaya gazeta, Russian State Award winner, and Independent Triumph-2000 award winner recognized for outstanding achievements in literature and art;
  • Irina Sedykh – Chairman of the Supervisory Board of OMK-Uchastie Fund.

The judges of the contest carefully examined all the works which we received (over 1,000 photos) and chose the Top-10 authors. Below is the list of their names listed alphabetically:

The exhibition consists of works of the ten contest finalists and of the works of four renowned Russian photographers (Yury Kozyrev, Dmitry Kostyukov, Aleksey Mayshev, Maksim Marmur).

The photo exhibition “One day of a child’s life” was held:

  • between November 28, 2012 and January 13, 2013 at the Gallery of Classical Photography (Moscow);
  • between February 8 and March 21 at the Museum of the History of Vyksa Steel Works (Nizhny Novgorod region);
  • between April 5 and May 25 at the Chelyabinsk Museum of Local Lore, History and Economy;
  • between June 1 and July 31 at the Chusovoy Cultural and Business Center (Permsky kray);
  • between August 2 and August 30 at the Almetyevsk Art Gallery (Tatarstan). 

All the donations we have collected will be used to fund the programs of the Russian Society of Pediatric Oncologists.
